Split PDF

Split a PDF into separate files by page ranges.

How to split pdf

  1. Upload your PDF

Drop your PDF onto the page or click 'Select files'. Only one file is needed.

  2. Choose how to split

Pick a split mode: custom page ranges (e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10), every N pages, or one file per page.

  3. Split and download

Click 'Split PDF'. If the result is more than one file, they download together as a ZIP.

Splitting a PDF lets you break a large document into focused pieces — sending only the relevant chapter to a colleague, archiving individual pages, or separating a combined invoice batch.

Choosing a split mode

Custom ranges give you full control. Write the page numbers and ranges you want, separated by commas. Each range becomes its own PDF file.

Every N pages divides the document into equal chunks. Useful for scanned documents where every two pages are one physical sheet, or for splitting a long report into sections of a fixed length.

One file per page is the most granular option — every page becomes its own PDF. Ideal when you need to handle pages individually before combining selected ones with the Merge tool.

About the ZIP download

When a split produces more than one file, the tool packages them into a ZIP automatically. The files inside are named with a sequential suffix so they stay in order when you unzip them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?
Use commas to separate ranges and individual pages. For example: '1-3, 5, 8-10' produces three files — pages 1 to 3, page 5, and pages 8 to 10. Ranges must be in order and within the document's page count.
What happens if I enter an invalid range?
The tool will show a clear error message explaining the problem — for example, if you reference a page number beyond the end of the document. Nothing is processed until the ranges are valid.
Can I extract just one page?
Yes. Enter that page number as both the start and end of a range (e.g. '5') or use one-file-per-page mode.
Will I get one download or multiple?
If your split produces more than one output file, they are packaged into a ZIP for a single download. A single output file downloads directly as a PDF.
Is there a limit on how many parts I can create?
No artificial limit. One-per-page on a 300-page document will produce 300 files in a single ZIP.

Tips

  • Use custom ranges when you need specific chapters or sections — it's faster than downloading individual pages one by one.
  • Every-N-pages mode is useful for splitting scanned booklets into individual pages or uniform sections.
  • After splitting, use Merge PDF to recombine any parts you want to rejoin.
